Function Massage Therapy is located in Peachland; nestled into a
quiet woodland setting. Here you will find a private clinic in a
comforting home environment.
Elisa McCoy, owner of the clinic, graduated from
Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy
in 2007. Her training consisted of three years (3000 hours) of
intense study of anatomy, physiology, pathology, clinical sciences,
orthopedic assessment, therapeutic exercise and varied massage
therapy techniques.
Before becoming a Registered Massage Therapist, she spent six years
working in a group home for adults with special needs. Although she
really enjoyed her time there, she was looking for something a
little more challenging. She has always loved knowing about the body
and understanding how all the systems work together. An injury at
work led Elisa to seek out massage therapy. She was surprised at the
extent of knowledge her RMT had, and decided to pursue a new career
path.
Elisa is passionate about massage therapy, believing in its
effectiveness. It thrills her to know that she is helping others
through massage therapy to lead happier and healthier lives. Elisa
welcomes clients with all health care needs. She is trained to
assess a client’s needs and to develop an individualized treatment
plan. Areas of massage that she has worked in include sports,
special needs, pregnancy, infant and geriatric massage. Treatments
may benefit many conditions such as stress, low back pain,
headaches/migraines, chronic conditions, tendonitis and
more.
Areas that Elisa has a particular interest in include working with
clients with chronic illness, long-term pain management and those
who are in palliative stages of life.
Outside of work, you will find Elisa spending time
with her family, pets, renovating her house,
gardening, hiking, or swimming. |
